A word in the pan yard
She called it an honour to be the feature speaker at Tornadoes Steel Orchestra’s Pan Camp graduation.
What an absolute honour it was, she wrote, to serve as the feature speaker at Tornadoes Steel Orchestra’s Pan Camp graduation. She is always deeply humbled by the chance to share words of inspiration.
Pan camp is one of the borough’s true classrooms. Young players learn time, discipline, and the pleasure of making something beautiful with other people. To be asked to speak there is to be trusted with the last word of a season’s work.
Alderman Fortune-John has never treated culture as decoration. African Emancipation Day in the borough, Borough Day, the Miss Point Fortin Borough Queen pageant, a story hour with the Point Fortin Youth Council: she shows up, she listens, and when she is asked to speak she speaks as someone who intends to stay.
